It was very interesting, to say the least, to pack up a 2 year old and 4 month old and drive 6 hours to stay 3 nights in Washington D.C. where 3 out of 4 of the days were VERY cold and 2 out of 4 were rainy!
We named her the "Hamburgular" as we were sitting outside eating horrendously expensive McDonald's food and she was completely transfixed, watching the pigeons and sparrows scurry about looking for food.
And apparently the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum was boring:

You weren't too far from me. I live about an hour from DC and we got that yucky rain too! Glad you had a little fun even though the weather didn't cooperate!
